Workout Wednesday: Full Body HIIT For Fat Loss

High intensity interval training, otherwise known as, HIIT, is in my opinion one of the most effective ways to lose weight. If you are looking to shed fat HIIT exercises enable your body to increase your heart rate rapidly, then decrease the bpm (beats per minute) due to alternating between low and all-out efforts. Research shows that high intensity exercises can burn more calories than low intensity exercise. Basically, the workouts that burn more energy are going to result in higher fat loss.

I've been incorporating HIIT workouts into my routine every week because I've been trying to shed a few unwanted extra pounds. I typically do circuits. I do 5 - 6 different exercises, 60 seconds each, with a 30 second break in between. I then repeat the circuit 3 times. It gets my heart rate up and really burns me out at the end of my gym sessions which I love. Give this workout a try! Some of the movements are a bit advanced, but all of them can be modified to a simpler version.

Bodyweight Squats

Sumo Squats w/ hold

Plank w/ Arm Raise


Reverse Lunges

Lateral Lunges w/ bosu ball

Alternating Heisman

3 sets of each!
