How to Stay Fit and Healthy During Coronavirus Quarantine



Now I know right now is a pretty difficult time for all of us. Having to be confined to our apartments or houses for days on end without knowing when this quarantine will end. You've probably been walking over to your fridge 20 times a day to get a snack, watching everything on Netflix, been pressured into doing a pushup challenge on IG, contemplated making a Tik Tok dance and (hopefully) washing your hands 30 times a day. I get it. We are all trying to keep our minds busy and you should. One issue with this coronavirus quarantine situation is that it might put a damper on your summer body goals. It's hard to think about working out and eating healthy when your quarantined in your house with nothing but food and distractions, but there are ways you can still keep yourself on track without totally going crazy.

One great way to start is by stocking your fridge with healthier food options. That way when you do snack on foods and prepare your meals, you're still eating nutritiously, and not simply carb-loading on pizza, pasta, and brownies.


Foods to Stock Your Fridge with Include:

Healthy Lean Meats: Chicken Breast, Lean Ground Turkey, Salmon

Healthy Fats: Organic Eggs, Avocados

Healthy Carbs: Quinoa, Brown Rice, Sweet Potatoes, Spinach Tortillas, Potatoes, Whole Grain English Muffins


Vegetables: Kale, Bell Peppers, Spinach, Asparagus, Onions, Zucchini, Broccoli, ETC.

Fruits: Strawberries, Pineapples, Blueberries, Bananas, Apples, Oranges, ETC.

Healthy Snacks: Pretzels and Hummus, Seaweed, Oatmeal, Yogurt, Any Fruit, Nutrition Bar

Now you can definitely reward yourself with something sweet every now and then, but don't go crazy now! The goal is everything in moderation - so if you do reward yourself with a cookie or that slice of pie your roommate made, just be sure to have one (and only one), don't get carried away.

So we've touched base on how to eat healthy during the quarantine, but what about exercising? For me personally, I've had so much energy being at home, so in order to release that, finding creative ways to workout have been a joy. But some of us may not have that motivation to pull ourselves out of our quarantine fatigue and workout, so we may need a little bit of a push. A few ways to have fun working out at home is to use common items in your house creatively. For example, doing squats and pushups using your couch. That way you can continue watching Stranger Things and still get that bum moving. Another fun way to workout is to put on your favorite song and dance honeyyy! It will burn calories and also keep you engaged. I have tons of dance workouts that are beginner friendly that I'll link below. The point is to have fun - and to enjoy your time at home.

We will all get through this! But realize in this point in time, that you need to practice self-care, self-love, and remember that just because this is a difficult time right now, you don't have to give up on those summer body fitness goals.
